If you’ve hired professional exterior painters, you want to ensure the project goes smoothly and that you receive the best results possible. In order to achieve the highest quality outcome, preparing your Kenilworth, IL home before the painting company arrives is essential. Below, Metanoia Construction Inc, Cook County’s top-rated exterior paint contractors, share essential tips to help you prepare your house for a fresh coat of paint.
Clean the Exterior
Before the exterior house painters, thoroughly cleaning the exterior of your home is crucial. Dirt, grime, and mildew can prevent paint from adhering properly. You can use a power washer or a garden hose with a scrub brush to clean the walls, trim, and other surfaces. Ensure that you give enough time for the surfaces to dry completely before the painting service begins.
Repair Any Damage
Inspect your home’s exterior for any signs of damage, such as cracks, holes, or loose siding. Making any necessary repairs beforehand will ensure a smooth surface for the exterior paint contractors to work on. If you’re unsure how to make these repairs yourself, consider hiring a professional home remodeling service. Metanoia Construction Inc can recommend trusted local contractors in Cook County.
Trim Back Foliage
Overgrown trees, shrubs, and plants can obstruct the work of the exterior house painters. Trim back any foliage that is close to Kenilworth, IL your home to create enough space for the painters to move around freely. Additionally, this will help prevent leaves or branches from coming into contact with the freshly painted surfaces.
Remove Outdoor Furniture and Decorations
To ensure a seamless painting process, remove any outdoor furniture, decorations, or fixtures that are close to exterior walls. Removing these items will prevent them from getting in the way and protect them from accidental paint splatters.
Communicate with Your Painters
To ensure a successful outcome, clear communication with your exterior house painters is key. Discuss your expectations, preferred paint colors, and any specific areas you want to have addressed. Make sure to inform the painters about any areas that require special attention. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask. Reputable painting professionals will ensure that your needs are met and that your Kenilworth, IL home looks its best.
To ensure the highest quality results, preparing your home for professional exterior home painting is vital. By following the tips outlined above, the process will go smoothly and the finished product will exceed your expectations. Kenilworth was founded in 1889 when Joseph Sears purchased 223.6 acres of land consisting of several farms between the Chicago and North Western Railroad and Lake Michigan for $150,300. Sears and several of his associates formed The Kenilworth Company to execute his suburban dream.
The company undertook all marketing activities. They publicized the community’s many attractive features through brochures, maps, and newspaper ads, as well as direct personal sales. Prospects were provided transportation from the city and greeted with a reception. Visitors were also offered overnight accommodations. In 1891, Sears invited about 20 of his personal friends, prominent bankers and Chicago businessmen to a picnic luncheon on Kenilworth’s lake shore. Lots were offered at $60 an acre; significantly above the $15 an acre for similarly located property nearby. Some laughed, but the property did sell within 12 months. This planned community attracted widespread attention and was visited by many noted architects attending the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
On February 4, 1896, the village reached the required 300 residents and was incorporated. The elected board assumed municipal functions from Sears. The Kenilworth Company continued their sales activities until 1904, at which time Sears acquired the existing stock and became the sole owner of the remaining property.
