Common questions about finishing a garage, including floor coatings, insulation, built-in storage, and how long the space is out of use.
Yes, the space needs to be clear before we start, since we're working on the floor and walls. We'll agree a date so you can plan where things go, and we protect anything that has to stay, like a water heater or mechanicals. We clean up fully before handing it back.
Yes. Insulation, drywall, and finished painted walls turn a garage from cold storage into usable space year-round, and it's usually done at the same time as the floor and storage so there's one disruption instead of three. We'll work through how far to take it at the walkthrough.
Durable, if the slab prep is done right, which is where cheap garage floors fail. We prepare and profile the concrete before coating rather than rolling product straight onto a sealed or dusty slab. Done properly, the coating resists hot tyres, dropped tools, road salt and oil, and cleans with a hose.
Floor coating, finished and painted walls, built-in storage and shelving, cabinetry, lighting, and workspace or workbench areas. We finish and transform the existing garage, we don't do garage conversions requiring structural change, or new construction.
Usually several days to a couple of weeks. Floor coatings are the pacing item: the slab has to be properly prepared and each coat given time to cure before the space can take weight again. We'll tell you exactly when you can park in it again, and we won't shorten cure time to hit a date.
Garage projects typically start around $5,000 for floor coating and finished walls, and rise with built-in storage, insulation, lighting and workspace. Scope is what drives price, a coated floor is a very different project from a fully finished, heated workspace. We quote from a written scope after seeing the space.
